26 out of the 27 signatories of "The Lancet letter", Britain's Wellcome Trust, Dr Daszak, Dr George Gao, Dr Jeremy Farrar, Dr Josie Golding and Professor Mike Turner, links to Wuhan researchers, Prof Ralph Baric, Professor John Mackenzie, Professor Kanta Subbarao, Professor Linda Saif, public health corrupted, The Lancet letter

Mr Daszak told Prof Baric that he would publish the letter in such a way that it doesn’t ‘link it back to our collaboration so we maximise an independent voice’

Norm’s note: as someone recently put it, a scientist can just as easily be bought as a politician. The pharse “conflict of interest” was coined to actually describe a perennial aspect of our social (capitalist) reality. It’s a thing. Really. REVEALED: 26 out of the 27 Lancet scientists who trashed theory that Covid leaked from a Chinese lab have links to Wuhan researchers
- The Lancet letter published in March 2020 called claims that Covid-19 originated in lab ‘conspiracy theories’
- It was signed by 27 scientists from across the globe working in virology and other medical science fields
- The widely-read letter effectively ended all debate about origins of the global coronavirus pandemic
- Investigation by The Telegraph has found 26 out of 27 had connections to China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology

Of the 27 scientists who wrote a letter in The Lancet medical journal dismissing the possibility that Covid-19 originated from a Wuhan lab, 26 have links to its Chinese researchers, their colleagues or its benefactors, a new investigation has revealed.
On March 7 last year, the influential journal published the letter in which the 27 scientists said they ‘strongly condemned conspiracy theories’ surrounding the origins of the coronavirus pandemic that has impacted all corners of the world.
All debate into whether Covid-19 had man-made origins or leaked from the lab in Wuhan – the Chinese city that was ground-zero for the virus – was effectively shut down by the letter.
[. . .]
However, an investigation by The Daily Telegraph newspaper into the signatories has found that 26 of the 27 had some link to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where the leak was suspected – calling into question their impartiality.

Four readily verifiable facts cast doubt on the above thesis:
Not a single expert in the field agrees that the virus originated in a lab, which makes a lab leak less likely.
Covid was endemic in the US long before it reached China: the CDC found 4-6 million Americans Covid seropositive in December 2019.
The first officially recorded Covid death occurred in the USA, not China.
China signed the UN Resolution calling for WHO inspections, then underwent one. The US refused to sign the resolution and has refused to permit an inspection.

Although Ioannidis would rather believe otherwise, the foot-dragging is in his opinion becoming increasingly telling.

Off the top of my head, I can think of at least two very heavy players in the field who strongly suspect that the virus originated from the Wuhan lab: Alexandra Henrion-Caude and Luc Montagnier.
Then there is this expansive and extensive bibliography, a work in progress, by Charles Rixey: SARS-CoV-2 Origins Research Reference Project – 20210813.
About his reference project, Charles Rixey writes the following:
Then I think you want to attend to this line of analysis: Fauci’s Dishonesty and Co-Conspirators Revealed! — Chris Martenson | Peak Prosperity
Meryl Nass seconds Dr. Martenson’s take on the cover up hypothesis: The real conspirators who lied about Covid’s origin, funded fraudulent trials of therapeutics, and controlled the Covid pandemic are the top public health leaders — Meryl Nass, MD | Anthrax Vaccine — Posts by Meryl Nass, MD
To sum up: it is simply not true that there is neither evidence nor expert opinion to suggest the likelihood of a lab leak.
